The first week of Ash Regan’s campaign for leader of the SNP, led her on a tour of the North East of Scotland, members and associated organisations who felt a bit ‘left behind’ by ‘central belt focussed’ party machinery were keen to share their candid feedback on what they felt was important to the future of the party.
Ash Regan said: “It’s been clear from talking to members that there is work to do, I’ve gathered up a lot of very candid sentiment that focuses on key themes of: transparency, accountability, modernity and accessibility. Following this critical feedback I’ve setup the SNP Action Plan.
As I get more feedback and as actions progress, we will revert to members and update the action plan as required”
SNP Upgrade – Action Plan
Transparency
Action: Publish membership population numbers, including density and intersectionality every quarter.
Action: Publish overview of party finances on a quarterly basis, including actual ring fencing of funds for key electoral tests.
Accountability
Action: SNP HQ will publish and maintain a list of ‘known issues’ and ‘hot topics’ from communications with branches.
Action: SNP HQ will utilise a ‘ticket’ system, with agreed service level agreements and emergency contacts.
Modernity
Action: Our canvassing infrastructure (Activate) will be updated to be mobile first, accessible, and easy to use.
Action: Members will be able to identify key talents such as graphic design, video editing, copy-writing, proofreading – so that branches will be able to utilise party skills.
Action: A political intelligence portal – that focuses on gathering on local issues, opposition, and community work will be setup to allow elected members and members to input key information.
Accessibility
Action: A national database of service providers will be established for branches to contribute to and rate.
Action: SNP HQ’s future will look like smaller offices spread throughout the country, rather than just a central hub in Edinburgh.
